A study for UC Riverside’s School of Business Administration found that 40 percent of workers leave the Inland Empire to go to work.  It is a fascinating look at the massive commuting culture we have here in Southern California but also underscores the lack of affordable housing near places of employment. Why would anyone leave the wonders of LA or Orange County? According to economist John Husing, the answer is affordable and attainable housing. The median home price in the Inland Empire market is about $233,000 cheaper than in Los Angeles County, and $412,000 cheaper than in Orange County. The fact is that the Inland Empire has the one thing in Southern California that you need: land and undeveloped property.
